The Versatile Workhorse

Telehandlers can perform a wide range of tasks in various industries.

Poised to higher grow

The demand for telehandlers has been increasing steadily, especially from the infrastructure construction and mining segments over the coming years.

Gaining traction

Growing construction industry supported by global megatrend of urbanisation is expected to drive growth of the global aerial work platform market.

2021 will be a year of challenges and consolidations

Souma Ray, Director, Haulotte India shares his thoughts on the AWP market outlook and the company’s activities.

AWPs for safe and reliable operations

The post-pandemic conditions demand for safer and secure means of operations where AWPs will play a major role and will gain prominence in future.

Telehandler technology has evolved over the years

Over the years, people have started understanding the versatility of telehandlers and therefore the demand has grown across sectors. Souma Ray, Director, Haulotte India, shares more on the market opportunities for telehandlers.

Accessing New Heights

The use of aerial work platforms in India is still to gather momentum, in spite of the growing construction and urban infrastructure development. Increased awareness on safety among the end-users and a growing rental market are expected to drive the market in future.

Telehandler market in India is steadily expanding

Telehandlers are very popular equipment worldwide and are extensively used globally. Souma Ray, Director, Haulotte India, explains the market dynamics globally and in India.

Steps to Safety

Being the safest means of working at heights, Aerial Work Platforms (AWPs) are naturally the option to work at height safely. However, use of AWPs in India is still limited and is picking up slowly.

AWPs: Safe working at heights

There is always risk involved in working at heights. Introduction of aerial work platforms has made it easy for workers perform well without any risk of falling, leading to timely completion of the work with higher productivity.

Budget 2018-19: Infrastructure, Rural Development key

Infrastructure development has been one of the top priorities of the Union Budget 2018-19 presented by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitely in Parliament on February 1. Major investments and allocations are in roads, railways and rural development including agriculture and rural economy. Urban infrastructure development has also received a boost with the allocation for Smart Cities mission.

Access industry is still plagued with lack of legislation for safety

The market scenario of access equipment industry continues to be flat. As major manufacturers, we always hope that the market evolves and matures, but regret it hasn't been so over the last few years when we talk about new machines being imported into the country considering the fact that the market being nascent and quantities being low, there are no thoroughbred manufacturers in India.

Telehandlers can gather a steady momentum in future

Telehandlers are versatile machines and have a wide range of applications across sectors. They are used in infrastructure, construction, mining, metals and minerals, logistics, ports and shipyards etc.

AN EVOLVING MARKET

Aerial work platforms are not just machines that ensure safety to people when they are working at height but alongside it vastly increases productivity. Work can be done more efficiently and quickly, and timelines can be met.

We strongly believe in the potential of Indian market

We showcased part of our range of equipment - right from the smaller ones to the vertical machines that work in tight and narrow spaces. We also displayed the traditional range of AWP?s that are used by rental companies, contractors and end-users. We have showcased a 16-m articulated boom, which has been one of our bestseller in India.

We expect better footfalls of visitors and prospective customers

On a global perspective, the demand of AWPs has certainly increased both in government and private sector. Rental sector is also seeing good demands of our equipment which is an encouraging sign.

Safe and Productive

The developed market saw the use of AWPs decades ago. Such machines were in demand by users, for two reasons: safety and speed of work.

A Need that Haulotte addresses

Haulotte being one of the leading manufacturers of access equipment is strongly committed in providing the best operation and maintenance training to their customers.

Exceeding Expectations

According to a report released by ICEMA, the current market size of the construction equipment including backhoe loader, concrete mixers excavator is around $2.8 billion. Further, the Indian construction equipment industry

Safety and Productivity at Heights

With the projects are going taller, demand for safe and productive vertical reach equipment is on the rise. Working at height has always been associated with a risk factor.

Our warranty terms are standard as per the norms of the AWP industry

The biggest challenge that we face in India when it comes to purchase of an aerial work platform (AWP) is the lack of awareness. The concept of SAFETY FIRST is still lacking across sectors and this is something which needs to be given topmost importance.

Gaining Traction

With a major thrust on infrastructure development by the government, coupled with the ?Make in India? programme, the Indian telehandler industry is poised for an unprecedented and exponential growth.

High Expectations

With growing safety awareness, the Aerial Work Platforms (AWPs), one of the best solutions to keep people safe, while working at heights, is poised for exponential growth in the near future.

Accessing Heights, Safely

As the access equipment industry matures in India and users become more aware on the advantages of using such equipment over conventional practices of working at heights, the rental sector in India is poised for a very bright and promising future.

Access Equipment for Cement & Steel Sectors

The future demand for access equipment in cement and steel sectors is promising in the years ahead. The use of access platforms (AWPs) is multifarious. As such, these equipment are used across all sectors

The Show is ON

The market sentiments are right; the government is taking right decisions for growth and development; and the construction equipment sector is sure to face a turnaround.

Our efforts are to provide the best product and after-sales support.

In developed countries, there are legislations in place which ensure AWPs are used for working at heights. We strongly believe that such legislations should come in India too, says Souma Ray, Director, Haulotte India. Excerpts from the interview
